Sunday afternoon was yet another dark day in Kenyan soccer.
Gor Mahia fans and AFC Leopards fans were engaged in raging battles after the match pitting the two teams.
The whole scenario started when referee Davies Omweno showed a straight red card to Gor Mahia Midfielder Victor Ali after a high footed challenge on Amon Muchiri's knee. Ali had just come in as a substitute.
This angered the Gor fans who begun shouting relentlessly at the match officials as the Gor players complained to the referee. They then resorted to throwing all manner of objects into the stadium and the game was stopped for over 20 minutes.
Police had to throw in tear gas to disperse the angry fans and they chased them out of the stadium all the way to town.
The game however continued and ended in a 0-0 draw.
Reports indicated that Gor and Leopards fans engaged in fights in town after the match with casualties reported.
