Othaya MP defends IEBC over chicken scandal

Nyeri - The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) is not justified to criticise the polls commission because their opinion is politically motivated, Othaya MP Mary Wambui has said.
Wambui said the opposition was not genuine in their call for disbandment of the polls body.
"They are criticising the commission because they lost elections. If they won, it would be a different story,” she remarked.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has found itself receiving scathing comments following allegations that the top bosses pocketed about KES 50 million in bribes from a British printing firm during last year’s general elections.

CORD leaders called for the officials' resignation and prosecution.
“Why haven't we heard them saying that IEBC did not do its work well when they win by-elections?” posed Wambui.
The MP made the remarks at Othaya town. She also sent her condolences to the opposition coalition for losing a member, the late Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang.
