Orphans and Vulnerable Children Fund (OVC) on Wednesday helped out more than 270 families in Nyahururu district where they received over KES 1 million through the Nyahururu Postal Cooperation.
The money will see over 870 orphaned children in the region, receive KES 4,000 per household from the fund.
District's Children Officer, Wenslaus Musindayi said that the fund which was run through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development will be given to households with orphans as well as children whose parents cannot provide for them because of diseases or disability a task that will be undertaken with accountability and .
However, the DCO said that only orphans and vulnerable children below eighteen years that will benefit until they become adults who are fully independent.
The officer added that each household receives KES 2,000 per month but due to administrative issues they are paid after two months where they receive KES 4,000.
The beneficiaries came from four locations within Nyahururu District with Muthengera having 46 households, Kinamba 87, and Gatero 48 households.
