Orengo white as snow

Nairobi - Siaya Senator James Orengo says he is as white as snow, regarding corruption allegations during his time as Lands Minister.
The Senator spoke of his innocence minutes after emerging from a grilling session at the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC offices in Nairobi Friday.
" I am innocent. There is nothing of substance here nor in the report. It is all baseless," he said.
Orengo is accused of receiving a KES 5 million bribe, for the sale of a plot in Nairobi’s Westlands area to former Nairobi mayor George Aladwa. It is alleged that the piece of land has a value of KES 320 million.
" There is no evidence to prove that I indeed authorised the sale of the plot, nor to prove that I received the money. It is all based on hearsay," he said of the first accusation.
Further, Orengo is accused of irregularly renewing a land lease for plot number No.I.R 861 in 2008, which had expired.
The latter piece of land was initially acquired in 1975.
" This is my family land and it is proven in the registry. There is simply no basis for this allegation too," he added.
Orengo, unlike other senior public officials is yet to step aside as has been requested by president Uhuru Kenyatta previously in-order to face his corruption allegations.
He says that he will not step aside over what he terms as accusations meant to tarnish his name.
