One dies in Makuyu road accident

13 December 2012, 14:17 Wangui Joseph

A man died on the spot Tuesday after a road accident along Makuyu - Sagana road in Murang’a District.

The 30-year old man was among four other passengers in a personal car transporting Miraa to Nairobi.

Area traffic police boss Grace Gatimu said the car lost control and overturned severally before landing at a homestead near the busy highway.

The car was said to be on a high speed.

The body of the deceased was taken to Thika District Hospital mortuary while those injured were rushed to Thika Level five Hospital.

The officer said driver of the car is admitted in the same infirmary and will be arraigned in court after recovery to answer charges of murder through accident.

Elsewhere, a class seven pupil drowned in Thera dam at Kakuzi farm in Mukuyu division Maragua Constituency.

This came as the same village was mourning the death of a form three student who drowned at Gachathi dam in Makuyu.

Reportedly, the 13-year-old boy had no swimming skills and had been rescued from drowning twice by his age mates.

Area administrator has advised parents to be taking care of their children at all times and advise them not to risk life.
