Nairobi - You know an artist has achieved their potential when they
shift their attention from themselves and their careers, to the society and the
underprivileged. Octopizzo, arguably Kenya’s most successful hip hop artist, is
out on a mission to save the children.
Having grown up in the Kibera slums, he
understands the hardships that the underprivileged and orphaned children in the
country are going through.
He has set out on a campaign to sensitize people on the
importance of looking after Nairobi’s children. Today being the Day of the
African Child, the rapper has taken it upon himself to be the voice of these
children. In a post on his Facebook page, he calls people to action, asking his
fans and friends to come together and not let the children suffer and die.
He wrote “You have never really lived until you can do
something for someone who can never repay you.” He goes on to add “Today being

place of birth determines your right to life. Let us be outraged, let us be
loud, and let us be bold. Take a moment and remember all the children we've
lost through war, diseases, poverty etc and stand for a future of a
