Nairobi - The Orange Democratic Movement ODM will punish members supporting other candidates during the upcoming Homa Bay by elections.
Through head of Political Affairs at the party Opiyo Wandayi, the party says it will not allow other persons to serve their selfish interests under the banner of the party.
He added that they had received reports of members supporting other candidates and would act on them if they continue with the same reports suffice again.
" We will not allow such behaviour as provided for under the political parties act. It is unacceptable and we will take action as provided by the law it it continues," he said.
ODM has been split following the announcement by the party that it would field the unpopular Moses Kajwang as its candidate for upcoming Senatorial by elections.
He added that it was the democratic right of anyone to support any candidate but warned that ODM would not allow them to overstep party protocol.
" It is simple. You can support anyone's wife in their endeavours but will your wife agree? We do not want those who are pro ODM by day and anti ODM at night. We will not condone them," he added.
ODM has been hit by several campaigns against Kajwang but those have not perturbed the party even slightly, according to Wandayi.
The party insists that Kajwang is the right man to contest the Homa Bay seat vacated by his late brother Gerald Otieno Kajwang.
