ODM names 5 aspirants to vie for Kajiado seat

Nairobi - The Orange Democratic Movement ODM has named five candidates that will fight for nomination to run for the Kajiado Central by elections.
Secretary General Ababu Namwamba named the 5 as Simon ole Nkeri, Dr Naomi Kipuri, Abraham Kashopa , Paul ole Kaika and Larasha Paitah.
The five have been fully vetted by the party and will vie for nomination to replace the former MP Joseph Ole Nkaissery who has moved to the cabinet.
Namwamba said that the final candidate will be known in 2 weeks time to allow for thorough campaigns in the area.
" We urge the people of Kajiado Central to support our candidate since we have done a national favour by allowing our MP to go to the cabinet and represent Kenyans at a higher level," he said
Ababu insisted that the party was confident of retaining the seat despite the competition from the National Alliance TNA party which is in the ruling Jubilee coalition.
" They took our man without consulting us but we will not give in during the elections," he said of the upcoming polls.
ODM will hope to win the seat and consolidate their numbers in parliament, which are already suffering.
They expect to start campaigns in the constituency immediately after a final candidate is chosen to vie for the seat in the March 16 elections.
It is expected that party leader Raila Odinga, as well as other CORD coalition partners will help the party campaign in the area.
