Nairobi - Orange Democratic Movement ODM leads the Jubilee Alliance Party JAP in the Kajiado Central by elections, a poll has said.
According to the latest poll released Thursday, ODM's Elijah Memusi Kanchori is the most popular candidate in the constituency with 67% of the overall cake.
JAP's Patrick Tutui is second with 32% of the support.
It is understood that 7% are for the remaining candidates as well as undecided voters.
The latest poll results were welcomed by ODM Friday, who together with their CORD coalition partners have put up a spirited campaign to sell Memusi.
" We know that we have the most popular candidate and we are confident that he will be the next MP for Kajiado Central," Co principal Kalonzo Musyoka said of the poll.
Kalonzo led a group of Ukambani leaders to Kajiado Thursday, to support Memusi's electoral bid.
The JAP side though, was confident that they would win the election and complete a clean sweep of all four Kajiado Constituencies.
" The polls are just that. We have seen them before and they have meant nothing. It will not change now, Kajiado North MP Moses Ole Sakuda said of the apparent poll results.
JAP will up the ante next week with President Uhuru Kenyatta expected to pay the constituency a visit.
This week, his deputy William Ruto toured the constituency to vouch for Tutui's candidacy.
The by elections will be held March 16, 2015 seeking to replace Joseph Nkaissery who has ascended to the position of Cabinet Secretary Internal Affairs.
