ODM gives Kajiado aspirants Friday deadline

Nairobi - The Orange Democratic Movement ODM has given potential aspirants for the Kajiado Central Parliamentary seat till Friday to register with the party.
The Orange party is seeking retention of the seat vacated by Joseph Nkaissery's move to the cabinet as Interior Cabinet Secretary.
It has thus invited bids for a suitable candidate for the by elections that will take place March 16, 2015.
Secretary General Ababu Namwamba said that the party will ensure it does it best to retain the seat by instituting a serious and vigorous campaign period.
" There will be extensive campaigns held in the area to ensure the party retains it seat in Kajiado," he said Wednesday at Orange House in Nairobi.
According to Namwamba, the nomination process will thus be thorough to ensure the party gets the right person to market come campaign time.
" The nomination process will be instituted in a thorough manner to ensure that the party eventually finds the right person for the seat, he added.
The party's election board boss Judy Pareno said that the party will decide on the right mode of nomination once candidates express their interest.
" We will decide on the best way forward regarding nomination in the coming days as we commence campaigns," she said.
The party is hopeful of staving off the National Alliance Party TNA, which is bidding to take a clean sweep of all constituencies in the Kajiado region, as it already boasts Kajiado North, East and South.
