ODM deny Kajwang ouster

Nairobi - The Orange Democratic Movement ODM has denied reports that Homa Bay branch chairman Otieno Kajwang has been ousted.
The apparent ouster was effected over the weekend after a group of Homa Bay branch officials held a meeting and voted to have Kajwang removed from office.
This comes just a week after Kajwang called on the party to kick out Nairobi governor Evans Kidero for supporting different candidates to those of ODM in upcoming by elections.
A group of loyalists to Kidero had instead called on Kajwang's ouster, saying that he was a stumbling block to democracy and the party's popularity.
But speaking Tuesday on the episode, acting ODM party leader Prof. Anyang Nyong'o says that there was no room for Kajwang's ouster.
He added that the party's top brass had not been informed of the plans and that Kajwang was the officially recognized official at Orange house.
" The said changes are baseless and lacking in truth. There have not been any changes made and the current leadership remains in place, he said in a statement.
" Elections are not due in the party and such changes will not be effected, he added.
Kajwang has insisted that Kidero leave the party unless he is willing to support pro-ODM candidates while Kidero says it is his democratic right to support any candidate he likes.
Kidero has supported Migori Governor Okoth Obado and Nyando MP Fred Outa in upcoming by elections after their elections were nullified by the Court of Appeal.
