Nairobi - ODM secretary general Prof. Anyang Nyon'go has called on CORD and ODM supporters to respect the president and other leaders.
President Uhuru Kenyatta was Monday heckled in Migori, a predominantly CORD support area in a move that was designed to show defiance to Governor Okoth Obado.
But with the president shouted down when addressing the gathering Monday and rebuke arriving from many leaders, Nyon'go has urged CORD and ODM supporters to respect the president.
" I have watched on news regarding the fracas that occurred in Migori
during His Excellency the President’s tour of the county today, in what was an unfortunate incident.
behalf of the ODM and the people of Kenya as a whole, I would like to
condemn this type of behaviour and to plead to our people to always give
the President the respect he deserves, " Nyong'o said in a statement.

His message was also echoed by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
" Such behaviour only serves to spoil the image of people who are hardworking and of good motive. It is unfortunate that a few people have managed to change that notion ",he said.
" It is prudent that we understand and respect that there are people who have different opinions and have varied feelings and that the president must be respected, he added.
CORD leader Raila Odinga is yet to say something on the matter but it is understood that he is on board with the comments from Nyong'o.
