Nyeri - Nyeri Chief of Staff, Duncan Maina, said the County government is putting up security measures so that businessmen in the town can be operating 24 hours to raise the economy of the County.
Speaking to journalists at a Nyeri hotel on Wednesday, Maina said the Nyeri governor, Nderitu Gachagua, has been organising security meetings with the County Security Committee to ensure that security is tight at night.
“We are also planning to put street lights in every corner of this town from Skuta area to King’ong’o Maximum prison. Already, the governor has held a meeting with the County security team and more meetings are in the pipeline,” he said.
Maina, who was accompanied by the Nyeri County Secretary Wambui Kimathi, said that more efforts are being put on the agricultural sector so that farmers can have enough money to spend around the year.
He said a meeting dubbed 'Nyeri Towards 24 hour Economy', will be held soon and will involve the business community.
Nyeri town dies after 9pm daily due to laws which were set by the past regime restricting business operations to 11pm.
