Nyeri - Nyeri County government has denied reports that it purchased a gynecological bed at a cost of KES 1.3 million.
The executive secretary in charge of health services, Charles Githinji said the gynaecological couch was procured by national government through the Ministry of Health in June 2013 before the County government took over management of the health sector.
“The story by a daily newspaper was based on false information. It has caused disrepute to the County government, Governor, the executive in charge of health and the County health department,” said Githinji.

Speaking during a press conference in Nyeri town, Githinji lamented that despite presenting relevant procurement documents exonerating the County government from the allegations, the media house went ahead and published the said story.
“The County government of Nyeri as a whole wishes to let the public know that it has not bought and is not intending to buy such a bed,” he stated.
He asked journalists to be reporting verified information to avoid causing public tension.
