Nyeri - Nyeri County Assembly has unveiled a Strategic Plan that will guide its performance in the next five years.
The Assembly Speaker, David Mwangi Mugo said the Strategic Plan will provide major guidelines on major areas in their focus in delivering services to the people of the county.
Speaking during the launch of the plan at a Nyeri hotel, Mugo noted that the plan articulates the assembly’s goals and describes the steps to be taken and resources needed to accomplish the set objectives.
He observed that they took a conscious decision to identity activities and programmes that they believe are crucial and fundamental in laying a strong foundation for the assembly for the future.
He explained that the key objective of the Plan is to help the Members of the County Assembly be top-class legislators who play the key mandate of legislation, representation and oversight.
He added that the assembly is mandated to make laws that the county executive implements to provide services to the residents.
“A good measure of our performance will be the number of legislation we pass and the quality of these laws,” Mugo said during the event presided over by Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
The speaker asserted that the Plan was a product of a highly participatory process that involved all members of the county assembly, the county assembly service board, the staff of the assembly and other major stakeholders.
