Not all men are dogs!

05 November 2015, 09:46 Anne Muigai

Over the decades, women have grouped all men under one umbrella, characterized by negatives. Through enculturation, and even devoid of any prior experience with a man, women learn to brand men as liars, cheats, irresponsible and immoral, among others.

If you ask any woman who has had some bad relationship her opinion about men, in general, she will unleash a whole list of titles given to men. I’m sure you will not hear anything positive. I know several ladies who have had some bad experiences in dating and marriage who refer to all men as dogs. Why? Because the men they encountered in their lives treated them badly, cheated and were irresponsible.

But are all men the same? Obviously not, all men are not the same. Just like women, some men lie and cheat, and are just not fit to be trusted or loved. I know many men who want to just have a feel of how relationships are, yet are not ready to commit or love faithfully. On the other hand, I have encountered men in love and ready to die for their relationships and families.

To be fair, it is important to know that not all the relationships you get into will lead to marriage. Disagreements arise in relationships and failure to resolve them may lead to separation. Sometimes along the way, you feel unhappy and unfulfilled with the partner you chose, and you may separate. In worst case scenarios, a partner may cheat and hurt you badly and you cannot stay. All these, however, do not mean that there are no good men left in the world.

Instead of dwelling on how bad you have been hurt and betrayed, learn to free your heart and mind. Divorce yourself from stone old stereotypes, and train other women not to typecast men because not all men are from the same cloth. Learn from your bad relationship and you will find it easy to choose a better partner in future.

So ladies, quit judging all men based on what you have experienced in the hands of some few men. Move on from the hurt and regret, step out with a positive mindset, there are many great men out there waiting for you!
