19 December 2013, 12:12
Nakuru - The Nakuru County Commissioner, Mohammed Birik, has said he will be working closely with the office of the Registrar to ensure that only Kenyan citizens are issued with identification cards.
Birik said that issuance of the national ID to the non-citizens is turning to be the major security threat in the country.
“I will be working closely with the office of the Registrar to make sure that only Kenyan citizens receive ID cards,” he said.
Speaking on Wednesday in Nakuru town during a meeting with Rapid Response Initiative (RRI), Birik said that the government will not spare any public servant who will be caught sympathizing with criminal gangs.
He urged citizens to shun bribery in public offices since it is the right of Kenyans to acquire services that are free and fair.
“For the country to develop, Kenyans should be ready to eliminate corruption especially in the government offices.” he said.
He stated that the government has already put in place modern systems that will hasten issuance of the national IDs.
