No evidence to charge rape doctor Mugo: Police

Nairobi - Rape doctor Mugo Wa Wairimu will likely walk away scot free as police are finding it hard to get evidence to charge him for rape.
Wairimu has been accused by a number of women over rape, after an expose in a local television station showed him raping women he had sedated.
He was charged in a Nairobi Court with rape and remanded for 14 days to allow investigations continue.
However, it seems that finding evidence to fit the case is becoming a challenge.
Head of the Serious Crimes Unit John Kariuki says that the case needs alot of evidence input to be able to force charges onto Wairimu but that so far there is nor much going on.
" We need evidence which at the moment is frankly not there," he told News24 on phone.
" I urge those that are willing to come out with evidence to please do so," he added.
The main challenge with the case is to find any DNA evidence to incriminate Mugo, something that has so far not been forthcoming.
Most women also do not remember him raping them and that is also an issue.
On the other hand, if Rape is not admissible, assault charges will be levelled against Mugo.
" We are hopeful. We have a bit of time but we need movement soon," Kariuki admitted.
Mugo has so far stated that he is innocent.
