Nairobi - The Police Commander, Benson Kibue has asked the Nairobi boda boda operators not to offer their transport services past 8 O'clock in the evening to curb the rising cases of insecurity in the city.
Kibue noted that the police have discovered that many robbery suspects and other criminals are using boda boda services to commit crimes and warned the operators that no security will be provided to them after the stipulated operation time. He also added that those who will defy the directive risk arrest.
"We know where those criminals are hiding and we will come for you. Boda boda operators should offer their services from 6 O'clock in the morning to 8 O'clock in the evening because criminals have found a leeway of using motorbike operators to commit crime at odd hours," said Kibue.
He said the directive was from the of office of the Inspector General of Police to be enforced with immediate effect hence every operator should adhere to it without defiance.
The directive comes after two robbery suspects were gunned down in Nairobi's CBD on Tuesday as they were planning to rob a shop along Moi Avenue.
