Nairobi - The BET awards which are scheduled to take place on June 29 2014 will see no Kenyan artists grace the awards after the nominees list was released.
Not a single Kenyan artists made the cut for this prestigious event that celebrates and awards exceptional musical talent within the black culture.
Though disappointing, this comes as no surprise as artists from Kenya have been accused for quite some time of making substandard music with almost zero export value. The standards of music have risen since these accusations were laid out, with both the producers and artists making an effort to reach out to the world.
East Africa will be represented in the awards by none other than Diamond from Tanzania, who has been on fire of late making hit tracks with fellow artists like Davido and just recently Kenya’s own Victoria Kimani.
The rest of Africa will be represented by the likes of Davido(Nigeria), Mafikizolo( South Africa), Sarkodie (Ghana), Tiwa savage (Nigeria) and Toofan (Togo).
