No African government can be corrupt free, MP tells opposition

24 March 2015, 13:54 Jackson Okata

Nakuru - Bahati MP, Kimani Ngunjiri has defended the Jubilee government against allegations that he is unable to fight corruption, saying there is no African country that can be corrupt free.

Ngunjiri said that the only difference between African countries is the degree of corruption in the different countries.

Speaking Monday evening at Nakuru town, Ngunjiri said that the opposition and civil societies should stop attacking the government because none of them is clean.

"The truth of the matter is that all Africans are corrupt. The only difference is the degree of corruption and we all have scandals including the opposition and civil society; some of them are even worse than the government," said Ngunjiri.

He added "You cannot expect the government to be as clean as snow because it is lead by Africans," he said.

Ngunjiri said that corruption will be worse in the country if CORD got into power, and called on them to wait for their turn to eat.

"The opposition is worse than the government and my advice to them is that they wait for their time to come so they can eat because we know they will be more corrupt than the Moi regime," he said.

Ngunjiri added that the opposition leader, Raila Odinga is a beneficiary of corruption and cannot therefore lecture the government on how to fight corruption.
