Nkaissery will be loyal to Uhuru, Jubilee coalition

Nairobi - Joseph Nkaissery says he is the right man for the Interior Cabinet Secretary, saying that he will make changes to the country's security apparatus.
Speaking Thursday at his vetting session in parliament by MPs, he stated that despite being affiliated to the Orange Democratic Movement ODM, once he assumes office, he will give his all to the national government.
There has been debate in recent times over whether Nkaissery would serve the government well, with his affiliation to the opposition and he stated equivocally that he would do so.
" I will serve the government of the day to my full capability and will follow fully what the president says, as is his manifesto," he said.
On whether his appointment would solve the current issues in the security network in the country, he said that he would try his best but that Kenyans have an overall responsibility to each other.
" Nkaissery is not the panacea of security. I'm not the solution. Its a collective responsibility for all Kenyans and we must acknowledge that," he added.
He also put a measure of blame on the current issues with security on the media.
" The media in Kenya thrives in exposing the weak belly of this country. This is wrong and must stop," he said.
On what he will bring to the table when and if he assumes office, he said he had loads of experience in dealing with such matters.
" We have done a lot in bringing peace in the region. I will bring my experience in dealing with our local problem. My first job will be taking stock to see if we have enough. If we don't we will ask parliament to give us more, he said.
If he passes the test, Nkaissery is expected to be named CS in the next few days, where he will replace the sacked Joseph Ole Lenku.
