Nkaissery names new north Eastern security boss

Nairobi - Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery has named a new north Eastern regional coordinator as the crackdown on insecurity in the region intensifies.
The CS Wednesday evening appointed Mohamud Saleh as North Eastern regional coordinator to replace Ernest Mwinyi.
The changes take effect immediately.
The move comes in the aftermath of many other changes effected on the security apparatus last week following the Garissa terror attack which saw over 148 people killed in an attack on the university college in the town.
Nkaissery said that the changes would continue in-order to ensure that the security in the region, prone to attacks from the Al Shabaab terror group are quelled.
" We are committed to ensuring that the lives and properties of Kenyans are protected and terrorists apprehended," he said.
The government has been under pressure to stop the level of attacks in the region, which is close to the border with Somalia and which in the last year saw over 150 people killed in terror related attacks.
