Nine shortlisted for IEBC top post

Nairobi - The Independent Electoral Commission (IEBC) has shortlisted 9 out of 52 candidates who applied for the post of the Chief Executive Officer.
Acting CEO Beatrice Sungura-Nyabuto is among the shortlisted candidates who will be interviewed for the post.
“The commission shall invite the shortlisted candidates for interview in due course,” read part of a statement from the IEBC.
The IEBC asked Kenyans who might not be satisfied with the suitability of the shortlisted candidates to present them to the commission.
“Any member of the public who might have concerns as to the suitability or otherwise of any of the shortlisted candidates, is requested to submit their concerns to the IEBC chairman under confidential cover,” IEBC said.
Other shortlisted candidates are; Lawrence Kibet Chelimo, Benjamin kipchumba Tarus, Erastus Lokaale Ethekon, Katasi Grace Nekoye, Robert Sidney Namulungu, Ezra Chiloba, Zephaniah Okeyo Aura, Dickson Omondi Onyango.

The position fell vacant following the suspension of former CEO James Oswago over alleged corruption.
Although the IEBC had announced that Oswago could still apply for the job despite having a pending criminal case, he did not do so.
