Night travel ban gets court approval
14 January 2014, 13:51
Nairobi - The High court has thrown out a case in which a number of bus companies were seeking to have a ban on night travel revoked.
High court judge Isaac Lenaola ruled that the case by four bus companies lacked sufficient grounds to have the ban on night travel by public service vehicle PSV operators removed.
The bus companies had argued in their plea that the ban by the government on night travel was unruly and had subjected them to countless losses.
According to judge Lenaola, the case filed by the operators was not strong enough to overrule the government directive.
The operators termed the move to ban them unfair since they have valid licences and that the ban only targeted commuter services and not other road users.
