Night guard in court for stealing from church

Nanyuki - A watchman at the Nanyuki Gospel Outreach Church has been charged with breaking into the same church and stealing one amplifier, one mixer, 40 kilogram gas cylinder and a carpet all valued at KES 224 000.
Richard Muturi however denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Florence Macharia.
He also denied an alternative charge of failing to prevent breakage and theft in the church.
According to Pastor Antony Kanyingi, all was safe and secure when the accused arrived at work in the evening of June 29, 2014.

The court heard that the following morning, the watchman informed the pastor that there was breakage and theft in the church premises.
The guard was arrested by police although the said items were never recovered.
The case was slated to proceed on April 24 and the accused released on a bond of KES 100 000 and a surety of a similar amount.
