Kampala - Nigerian who posted nude photos of Ugandan girl on social media has been arrested by Interpol.
Uganda's ethics and integrity state minister, Reverend Father Simon Lokodo on Tuesday told the press in Kampala that the former boyfriend of Desire Luzinda, Franklin Obwo, has been arrested by Interpol in Nigeria and will be brought back to Uganda soon to answer to charges of displaying Luzinda’s nude photos on social media.
Photos of Luzinda's unique private parts went on social media and caused excitement amongst many Ugandans although a few moralists condemned it bitterly.
Lokodo said, ''He has been arrested by Interpol. Soon he will be here. We are also holding seven people in connection to spreading sex tapes and photos on the social network."
He added that in a bid to crackdown on the vice, a special committee to monitor and install the software to track all those who abuse social media networks will soon be launched.
He warned media houses that have been broadcasting and publishing pornographic material to stop before they are closed down.
''My attention has been drawn to several public complaints on the current wave of circulation of pornographic images on social media. On behalf of government, I strongly condemn and denounce these acts and warn the perpetrators of these vices to stop
or else the long arm of the law will catch up with them soon,'' Lokodo said.
He said that because of the escalating problems of trafficking and circulation of pornographic materials in our society, government has enacted the Anti Pornography Act in 2014. This Act provides for the prohibition of pornography, establishes the pornography Control Committee and prescribe its functions and other related matters.
