Nairobi - A Nigerian man has been arraigned before a Nanyuki court for being in Kenya illegally.
Peter Okwonko Mwambele, was however not allowed to take plea as prosecution asked court to be given more time to investigate the suspect and his mission in Kenya.
An investigating officer working at Nanyuki police station, Moses Ochieng submitted an application to allow for further investigations before Principal Magistrate Florence Macharia.
The suspect was arrested for allegedly being in the country illegally on Wednesday, February 18 at Nanyuki town.
Ochieng further requested the court that the suspect be remanded at Nanyuki police station while he concludes his investigations.
The officer said he had to get reports from National Anti-terrorist unit, National Intelligence Service, carry out investigations on the suspect’s documents and his alleged residential area in Nairobi.
The suspect however asserted that he was not in Kenya illegally but was in the country to shoot a movie.
However, the court while accepting the prosecution application observed that the matter required comprehensive investigations.
The case was slated to be mentioned on February 24, this year.
