Ngunjiri says police are targeting him

Nakuru - Bahati MP Kimani Wa Ngunjiri who was charged with five counts of assaulting a traffic policewoman last week has claimed that police in Nakuru have been pursuing him since he started fighting corruption in the police sector.
The Bahati Member of parliament said that police are trying to label accusation against him to stop him from fighting corruption.
“Police are aware of my spirited fight against corruption in the police service and that’s why they are victimizing me,” said the lawmaker.
Speaking on Saturday after spending a night at Central police station where he had been remanded after denying the assault charges, Kimani said the claims will not stop him from fighting corruption in police service.
He added that he had crucial leads against a curtail of police officers who have been collecting bribes from the public.
“I know I am being targeted by police because I was on the verge of finding out how this curtail operates in the town,” he said.
He further said he will be tabling a motion in the August house concerning the corruption vice within the police service in Nakuru.
