Nakuru - Five Administration Police camps will be established along the notorious Salgaa-Sachang’wan highway to curb cases of carjacking on the busy Nakuru-Eldoret highway, Molo AP Commander Joseph Mwangi has said.
This follows rise in cases of criminal activities especially those that involve carjacking, with the Sachang’wan climbing lane being the most notorious spot.
According to Mwangi, the most recent case in which AP officers on patrol nabbed three suspected robbers along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway offloading a lorry on transit was a milestone, though the suspects escaped unhurt when police opened fire on them.
“We have written to the Kenya Revenue Authority to furnish us with details of the owner of a motorbike which was recovered from the scene after the gang escaped,” said Mwangi.
In February, Flying Squad police gunned down a gang of three including a woman believed to have been behind robberies along the highway near Kibunja.
