National government urged to support devolved units

Bomet - The government has been urged to fully support the devolved units as a means to better the lives of Kenyans.
According to former Bomet MP Beatrice Kones, it is only through such support that Kenyans lives would be be improved and development fast tracked.
Speaking during a farmer’s forum, Kones further accused MPs of plotting to reduce county allocation, a situation she said will greatly hamper development.
“It is very wrong for MPs to plot to reduce county allocations. This will negate development and I urge them to shelve such motives,” she said.
She said change had been realized since devolved units started operation close to a year ago and it is the responsibility of all Kenyans to be custodians of the same.
The former MP further called on senators and governors to bring to an end the wrangles between them and instead work together in order to improve the lives of Kenyans.
She said the leaders were elected by Kenyans and the only way they can appreciate that is through serving Kenyans diligently.
“The senators, governors and the other leaders were elected in order to serve Kenyans. It is therefore wrong for the leaders to differ every time,” noted Kones.
