National anti-corruption ceremony to be held in Machakos

Bungoma - Bungoma County is set to host the Regional Ethics and Anti-Corruption commemoration in December.
Speaker John Makali, in a communication to the Assembly, said the event will bring together all counties from the former Western and Nyanza provinces.
He said the event scheduled for December 9, is aimed at raising awareness on corruption and finding ways of combating corruption adding that national celebrations will be held in Machakos County.
"It will be an opportunity to reflect on anti-corruption interventions and assess where we are in the war against corruption," said Makali.
The Speaker called on the MCAs to attend the function in order to learn ways of combating graft in the region.

He added that the event will be preceded by a number of activities including caravans, walks and several other outreach programs.
Makali at the same time urged committees of the County Assembly to be proactive and ensure they pick up various Bills that have already been tabled before the County Assembly.
"We need to ensure we realise our target of passing at least 15 Bills before going for the December recess," he said.
A number of Bills including the Bungoma County Education Bursary Fund Bill 2014, the Bungoma County Emergency Fund Bill 2014 and the Bungoma County Transport Bill 2014 have already been committed to the various committees of the County Assembly.
