Nairobi - The National Lands Commision NLC vice chairman Abigael Mukolwe has received death threats, she has told police.
Mukolwe recorded the statement at the Kilimani Police Station Wednesday, saying that she had received the death threat via a latter that was dropped outside her offices in Nairobi.
The letter was directed at Mukolwe over an apparent land deal in Mumias, western Kenya.
" Abigail, we had hope in the National Land Commission for justice in Mumias. We didn’t know that you are that cheap. You are a Maragoli and doing that for your brothers to acquire land in Mumias. You have a home in Musanda and we are seriously after you. We shall kill you," the letter read.
Police are investigating the whereabouts of the letter.
The clearly shaken Mukolwe said that she would try live as normal as possible but would take precautions.
" It is scary since I don’t know who they are and what they want from me and that is why I fear whoever they are, they may harm me," she said of the debacle.
This is not the first time NLC members have been under threat with chairman Mohammed Swazuri previously saying he had been threatened but would continue to serve the country without fear.
