Nakuru leaders want post in Cabinet

A cross section of leaders from Nakuru county have called on the president elect Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure that Nakuru county is allocated a cabinet slot when cabinet secretaries are named.
Led by Bahati legislator Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri and his Molo counterpart Jacob Machariah, the leaders said that Nakuru county deserves the post owing to the manner in which voters turned out in large numbers and voted the jubilee government in.
The duo said that Nakuru county has for a long time been left out of top government positions thus their decision to lobby for the appointment of at least one cabinet secretary from the county.
On the ailing pyrethrum sector, the leaders said that they will oppose any move to sell Pyrethrum Board of Kenya assets saying that under the devolved government, there was hope for revival of the once lucrative sector.
The two MPs regretted that no one had come out in the open to support members of the county assembly who have also started advocating for a review of their salaries.
They said that there was need to review the salaries considering that MCAs are now representing bigger areas compared to what Councillors used to represent.
They were speaking in Nakuru on Sunday after attending a church service at the Shabab Baptist church.
