Nakuru free Wi-Fi 'a pure gimmick'

Nakuru - Days after free Wi-Fi internet was launched in Nakuru town, most residents are still unable to access it.
Locals are now terming the free Wi-Fi, which was expected to be easily accessible in the Central Business District of Nakuru town, as a pure gimmick.
According to Grace Mutua, a student at Egerton University, the internet has never connected on his phone and laptop ever since it was launched.
“There is nothing like free internet in this town because it does not work. It looks like the county government was just putting up a show,” Mutua said.
During its launch, Nakuru County governor, Kinuthia Mbugua was quoted as saying that the key beneficiary of the internet were youths.
A spot check by the media on the free Wi-Fi revealed that the signal of the internet is very low and cannot even open a single tab.
Most of the residents now want the County Executive for Information and Technology (IT) to come out and explain why the free Wi-Fi is not working despite their assurance that the internet will never go down.
