Nakuru farmers want Pyrethrum board dissolved

Farmers in Nakuru County are seeking quick intervention by the government to dissolve the current board of directors and management team of financial at the Pyrethrum Board of Kenya citing the giant corporation is headed into impoverishment.
The farmers under their lobby group Pyrethrum Growers Association said on Tuesday that, the entire board had failed in reclaiming the sector from its financial sticky situation.
The union also wants the position for the board of directors to be led by one of the farmers, and that of manager to be filled by someone hired through a credible and fair way so as to rescue the corporation that is passive to be collapsing.
Lobby group chairman Samuel Kihiu said they had also written to the Minister of Agriculture Sally Kosgei seeking her rescue on the issue that is also said to have billions of shillings that the company owes to creditors and that is also threatening to paralyze all operations at Pyrethrum sector.
“We also sent a letter to the Minister of Agriculture seeking her quick intervention on the matter, because there is lots of billions of shillings that is still owed to creditors” said Kihiu.
Kihiu also urged parliamentarians from crop growing counties to support a pending motion on liberalization of the sector to fast track its adoption.
