Nakuru County to embark on fight against cancer

Nakuru - Nakuru County Assembly has passed a motion seeking the county government to set aside an annual fund to go towards free cancer screening in the county.
The county Speaker, Susan Kihika said cancer has caused many deaths in the country.
“Cancer is threatening many lives and as a county government, we will ensure that enough effort is applied towards fighting the menace,” said Kihika.
Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua affirmed the Speaker's sentiments saying he had talked to the Indian ambassador to Kenya on possibilities of setting up a cancer screening and treatment centre in the county.
The Transport and Safety Authority chairman, Lee Kinyanjui called on the government to invest in the fight against cancer.
They were speaking at the burial of the late Damaris Mbuthia, who was the county's nominated MCA.
Mbuthia died of breast cancer.
