Nakumatt MD assure customers, shoppers of security

09 April 2014, 11:26 Joseph Njung’eh

Nyeri - The Nakumatt Holdings managing director, Atul Shah has assured customers and shoppers that security has been beefed up in all their outlets.

According to a statement he signed and released to media houses on Tuesday, the company’s management has confirmed that they were aware of the ongoing short messages and social media reports alluding to potential terror threats at specific shopping malls.

However, Shah said he could not dismiss the allegations and that they are indeed treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves though he could not confirm the authenticity of the claims.

“To this end, we duly alerted all our employees, security service providers and have significantly beefed up our security surveillance and procedures,” he said.

Nakumatt, the statement indicated, is collaborating fully with all security agencies to ensure maximum-security measures and procedures are maintained across all branch networks.

“On this score, we are grateful that the National Police Service has seconded plain clothed and uniformed armed units to our respective branches and malls that we operate in countrywide,” he announced.

The MD however asked mobile subscribers to exercise personal responsibility when sharing SMS' and related social media messages to avoid causing unnecessary panic.

“Ideally, such messages should also be shared with the relevant security agencies to facilitate proper management,” he stated.
