Nairobi - A woman has been charged by a Nairobi court for failing to pay a bill at a five start hotel in Nairobi worth over KES 200,000 including a stay on Valentines Day.
The woman, who is also apparently a musician, Laura Ogolla is accused of spending 21 days at the Nairobi Intercontinental Hotel and accumulating a bill of KES 229,500 which she failed to pay after stating that she could.
She spent 21 days at the hotel including Valentines Day last weekend.
She was charged with obtaining credit by false witness.
It is understood that her boyfriend, who was to foot the bill failed to show up at all and thus placed her in the predicament.
The 27 year old denied the charges before Nairobi Magistrates Edda Agade at the Milimani Law Courts.
The hotel complained that after it asked the woman to make payment for the time spent at the hotel, she became unapproachable and difficult to speak to.
This is even after the hotel asked her to make a down-payment of the amount to show she was serious about the bill.
She was arrested Monday by police after efforts to coerce her into clearing the bill failed.
She was released on a bail of KES 100,000.
The case will be heard from March 18, 2015.
