Nairobi - Children at Mukuru Promotional Centre, St. Bakita Primary in Nairobi celebrated Valentine’s Day in style when Airtel Kenya staff visited them to share the day with them on Friday.
Airtel Kenya managing director, Shivan Bhargava led the staff during the visit, where they engaged the children in a number of activities.
The best performers were awarded with medals while the staff also presented clothes, sanitary towels, furniture, toys, books and pencils to the children.
The school also received a KES 525,000 cheque from Bhargava to cater for school fees for 15 needy high school students who are sponsored by the company.
The children were later treated to a luncheon to celebrate the occasion of love.
“We were delighted at the occasion to share our love and gifts with these wonderful young people. We hope that these special moments made their day as it did ours, with a lasting impression on their life’s journey,” said Bhargava.
The company has been able to assist a number of schools in the country through its “Our School” Corporate Social initiatives.
It also has an employee volunteering program where staff may choose to contribute a portion of their salary to deserving community initiatives including school fees.
