Nairobi - Police say that a prominent Nairobi lawyer who was found dead in a swimming pool in Mombasa died after drowning, but his family begs to differ.
George Oriaro was found dead in a swimming pool in a Mombasa hotel and now police claimed he died due to drowning, something his family openly refuses.
" We know he died of drowning and this case is now closed, " Kisauni OCPD Walter Abondo told News24 on phone.
" There are other reports coming up but for now we see no reason to have the case remain open," he said.
His family though, reads mischief in the death as they say he was a very good swimmer.
" He was a good swimmer and we feel that there is something not quite right," his widow Elizabeth Oriaro told News24.
" We are still ongoing with our own investigations and we will come up with a conclusion soon after," she added.
Oriaro became famous in the country when he filed a petition in Parliament seeking to remove top Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC officials.
The two officials, chairman Mumo Matemu and his assistant Irene Keino eventually resigned.
