Nairobi - A Nairobi businessman who had gone missing was killed by unknown men and his body dumped in a river in Naivasha.
Anthony Gatwiri's body was found dumped along river Malewa in Naivasha Tuesday after he was kidnapped Friday by 4 men who allegedly asked him to help them jump-start their car.
" He was picked up by 4 men who had beaten him up and dumped in Naivasha where his phone also was found," Kikuyu Town OCPD Birgen Kiptoo told News24.
According to Gatwiri's employee Philip Kariuki, the men had asked to be towed by Gatwiri and after he sought to help, they towed the car several metres before the rope he used cut out under a bridge.
It is then where they attacked Gatwiri using a metal bar and also descended on him, leaving him for dead.
After Kariuki was saved by well-wishers, he was taken to hospital.
Birgen says that the motive for the killing is yet to be known.
" Investigations are ongoing. We are yet to draw any reason behind the killing but we suspect it was not just a normal robbery incident or mugging," he stated.
His body is currently lying at the Kikuyu PCEA mission hospital.
