Nairobi Governor Kidero under fire over Langata land grab

Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is under fire over the grabbing of a school playground in Langata that ended up causing children to be teargassed by police following a protest.
The Governor was quick to post his apologies online after the children were teargassed Monday following a protest arranged over the grabbing of land meant to be their playground.
" I wish to condemn today's violence by Police at demonstrators & students in Langata. All Police presence must be withdrawn!, he said on his Twitter handle.
His apology though was met with derision from angry Kenyans, who sought to know why the land had been hived off in the first place.
The National Land Commission NLC and the Ministry of Lands have already said that the land belongs to the school and not a private developer.
And so the question on many's lips has been simple. Why has the County government been quiet about the matter?
Gideon Serem on Twitter saw the irony in Kidero's message.
" The irony in Kidero's tweet. Oh my," he simply said.
Dr Who, Wanjala was unforgiving of the Governor.
" Land under your trust is grabbed and the best you can do is a tweet? He posed to Kidero.
The Consumer Federation of Kenya FKE was also ticked off by Kidero's tweet, which they found to be a public relations stunt.
" Lest we forget that you Kidero Evans was supposed to protect the parcel of land on behalf of the children. Lets not engage in choruses like the police," the body said.
There was also social media outcry over the silence from State House on the matter, with no official statement released on the incident thus far.
