Nairobi - The Nairobi County government has signed a deal to enable payment services go digital.
The deal was signed Tuesday by governor Evans Kidero in a deal which will see JamboPay solutions provide an online platform for payment services for the county government.
The payment solutions will be accesible through mobile and online platforms as well as be found through county agents.
According to Kidero, the new deal will enable the county government close in on loopholes that contribute to loss of revenue.
He further added that it will also help in management of funds and help new ways of revenue collection easier to handle.
" It is a great initiative that will first of all reduce corruption and loss of revenue due to outdated methods of collection, he said.
He further said it would give the County government an easier job in finding fraudsters as well as defaulters and also ease collection.
" The county government can thus concentrate on looking for other methods of generating income as compared to wasting time collecting it.
He said that he expects revenue streams to improve with the new system.
Kidero also added that the Nairobi government is working on ensuring that all parts of their operations are digitized.
