NYS officer killed, body dumped in forest

15 September 2015, 10:53 Joseph Njung'eh

Nyeri - Two bodies of men have been found dumped at Kabiruini forest in Nyeri town along Mweiga-Nyeri road.

One has however been identified as that of a National youth Service (NYS) officer from Murang’a County.

The bodies had deep injuries with police saying that they could have been brutally murdered elsewhere and later dumped at the forest.

Their hands were both tied with ropes and had serious injuries on the head.

Nyeri Central OCPD, Charles Rotich said the NYS officer was identified as James Kuria from Murang’a according to documents found in his pockets.

“They looked like they were hit with blunt objects on the head. We received a report from the local chief,” said the police boss at the scene of crime.

Rotich said the mutilated bodies were seen by a man who was grazing his cattle and later informed the area chief.

Shocked members of the public jammed scene as police were removing the bodies with residents saying the deceased persons were not known in the area.

Meanwhile, another man’s body has been found floating at Muringato River, Nyarugumu village in Tetu Sub-County.

The body, which had no physical injuries, was found by residents.

All the bodies were ferried to Nyeri Referral Hospital morgue with the police boss saying that investigations have been launched over the incidents.
