Nairobi - TV stations that have been off air in recent weeks will resume broadcasting in Nairobi on digital platform Thursday, they have announced.
The four TV stations NTV, KTN, Citizen TV and QTV will resume broadcasts at 10 minutes to 7 PM Thursday 5 March 2014, they announced Tuesday.
The reason for their return was not shared but the stations have missed out on advertising revenue whilst they have been off air.
The stations had gone off air in protest over the switching off of analogue network in Nairobi and other major cities in the country by the Commuications Authority of Kenya CA.
The four had said that they were not ready for the switch and that they would need time till May to shift to the digital platform.
They had even gone to the Supreme Court to seek an order to extend their stay on analogue but were denied by the court, who said that the pre-announced dates for analogue switch off would remain.
They have thus been off air for the sum total of just above three weeks.
" KTN will resume normal programming on Thursday 5th March, 2015 at 7 PM. Welcome Home," KTN announced on its Twitter feed, as did the others.
They are expected to bring in their own set top boxes from April to distribute to Kenyans, a move they say will ensure that their content is received free of charge by majority of Kenyans.
