NRM member wants Museveni's age probed

Kampala - A member of the NRM ruling party who is against President Yoweri Museveni running for Presidency in 2016 wants the President's age probed, saying he is far older than the 71 years he claims.
Benjamin Alipanga moved to Constitutional Court seeking to block Museveni from standing in the 2016 presidential elections.
He wants Museveni to be subjected to a scientific test to determine his real age.
Alipanga has reportedly instructed his lawyers to file an amendment seeking a scientific determination of Museveni's age to his main application to the Constitutional Court seeking to block him from seeking re-election.
According to Alipanga, the law says anybody running for Presidency in Uganda must be between 35 and 75 years and therefore there can be no shortcut about it.
But ruling party senior cadre, Maurice Alaka said that Alipanga is just wasting his time because Museveni was born around 1945.
"The name Museveni was used by Ugandan soldiers who were retuning home after fighting in the World War II. Alipanga is being used by Museveni's enemies," he said. For the latest on national news, politics, sport, entertainment and more follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page!
