Nakuru - Nakuru County Assembly on Thursday passed a motion that requires all Non Government Organization's operating in the county to be profiled by the Health Committee.
While moving the motion at the floor of the house, Catherine Waweru said that there are so many local and international NGOs that are operating in the county and that there is need to have accountability of the projects they carry out at the ward levels.
“We have so many local and international NGOs that need to be profiled because most of them intended to concentrate in one particular area while neglecting other areas,” she said.
Most of the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) supported the tabled motion saying it will help the county government be able to have a track record of all the NGOs in the county.
Visoi ward MCA Gitau Kamau supported the motion saying that most of the NGOs operating in the county are only money making organizations.
“This motion will help us be able to know how many NGOs we have in the county because most this organizations are normally out to make money,” he said.
Kamau further said that some of the NGOs only hold their meetings in big hotel in the towns instead of visiting the people at the ground level.
The MCA enormously agreed to pass the motion adding that this will help the county government be able to deal briefcase NGOs in Sub-Counties.
