NCPB urged to stock up on fertilizer for planting season.

Nakuru - Nakuru county assembly leader of majority, George Mwaura, has urged the National Cereal and Produce Board (NCPB) to have the fertilizer in place before the planting season starts.
Mwaura said Nakuru County is a farming region and that the NCPB should have enough fertilizer in their stores by January to supply to the farmers.
“As we approach the farming season our local NCPB branch should have in place enough fertilizer in place because this region depends on farming", he said.
Speaking in Nakuru on Monday, Mwaura said it is sad that farmers have to queue at the cereal board for a whole day to buy the fertilizer. He said it is high time that NCPB came up with new ways that curb fertilizer shortage in the country and counties as well.
He said it is regrettable that most of the farmers are forced to start planting their crops late in the year due to shortage of fertilizer at NCPB. “Something needs to be done at NCPB because our farmers can not be queuing all day long waiting just to buy the fertilizer,” he said.
The majority leader also cautioned the farmers against buying fake fertilizer as the farming season approaches.
On security matters, Mwaura called on the police to beef up security in the town at night as the country approaches the festive season.
