NCIC orders immediate Kuria arrest for hate speech

Nairobi - The National Commision for Integration and Cohesion NCIC has ordered for the immediate arrest of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria over hate speech allegations.
Chairman of the Commision Mzalendo Kibunja said Wednesday that such comments from an elected member of parliament were regrettable and that there was need to stop them happening again by ensuring that the said person is punished accordingly.
He said that if the Commision is seen to condone such behaviour, then the war against hate speech and similar deeds will die a natural death.
" It is disappointing to hear that such comments have come from a highly popular and well know public figure and as a Commission we are highly disappointed," he said.
" The Commision takes the comments to be against public goodwill and orders the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Gatundu Member of Parliament," he added.
Kuria was quoted as stating that he wants youths in the country to use pangas (Machetes) to chop those against the progression of the National Youth Service NYS.
In apparent reference to opposition chiefs who have been at the forefront of calls to have the NYS probed because of allegations of corruption, Kuria stated that Youths must protect their own initiative from those with bad intentions.
The NYS is under probe for the misappropriation of KES 826 million.
CORD leader Raila Odinga has thus called for the suspension of Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru under whose jurisdiction the NYS lies.
